Sail Gypsy Wind

The Travels, Trials and Tribulations...

ON TO CUBA...

Regatta Week in Georgetown is over and it's now time to move on - to Cuba! Unfortunately, my first mate has to return to Canada to take care of business there, so I'll be doing this leg of the trip on my own.
Actually, not entirely on my own - I've benefitted from the advice of those who have gone before, most notably, Ron and Evelyne of Toronto, on White Diamond, a Beneteau 54, and the crew of a US motor yacht whose names I've forgotten (grin) - let's let too much rum be my excuse! Thanks folks, for all your help.
Click on the following links for more information and please keep in mind, updating this site from now until I return to the US will be difficult if not impossible, as internet access in Cuba is apparently limited to tourist oriented locations. Once this trip is done, however, I'll fill you in on all of the available facilities in each locale I visit on the northeast coast of Cuba. From groceries to gas, you'll then know what is there and what you will need to bring with you.
One special note here - thanks to all of the cruisers in Georgetown who donated a spectacular variety of items for Gypsy Wind to give away to people in Cuba. So many of you expressed a wish to cruise Cuba - my hope is that you'll be there soon to experience Cuba
yourselves. In the meantime, I'll email you directly
when I can with information on this trip. Also, a
special thanks to the gal on the cash at Sailormans
in Fort Lauderdale, who donated several bags of
brand new children's clothing to go to Cuba.
And lastly, a
VERY special thank you to Sabrina,
a lovely young lady (see photo) on Double Wide,
who cleaned out her locker to make a donation to
others less fortunate.
